From 1st June 2025, HMRC is updating its Advisory Fuel Rates (AFRs) – the amounts you can claim for business mileage in company vehicles or repay for personal use. While the changes are small, they can affect your practice’s expenses and tax position.
Key updates include:
-
Petrol (1,401cc–2,000cc): 14p per mile (was 15p)
-
Petrol (over 2,000cc): 22p (was 23p)
-
Diesel (up to 1,600cc): 11p (was 12p)
-
Electric remains at 7p per mile
These rates help ensure you stay within HMRC rules and avoid extra tax charges. For therapists and mental health professionals managing travel between clinics or client visits, using the correct rate matters.
